Telemedicine abortion is becoming increasingly more accessible to patients, yet it is often excluded from the curricula of health professionals. This Telemedicine Abortion course was created to fill in the gaps left by the exclusion of telemedicine abortion from mainstream medical curricula.
Course Development & Description
This Telemedicine Abortion course was developed as an elective for fourth-year medical students in 2025 and was piloted in 2026 utilizing existing resources from Innovating Education in Reproductive Health, with faculty mentorship and input from Dr. Maureen Baldwin at OHSU and Dr. Biftu Mengesha at UCSF.
Most lectures in the abortion course can be viewed with subtitles in Spanish or French. French translation was made possible by the Safe Abortion Action Fund and International Planned Parenthood Federation. Click the Closed Captions button on video lectures to access subtitles.
