This videos series, created in partnership with the ACOG LARC Program, covers a variety of clinical topics related to the provision of Long Acting Reversible Contraceptive (LARC) methods.

Objectives:

  • Know contraindications to intrauterine contraception.
  • Name all elements needed to obtain informed consent.
  • Understand how to counsel patients about contraception using a shared decision-making framework.
  • Review steps for insertion and removal of 5 different intrauterine devices (IUDs) and the subdermal implant.
  • Describe methods for reducing pain during and after IUD insertion.
  • Review techniques for difficult IUD and implant removal and indications for referral.
