If/When/How: Lawyering for Reproductive Justice is the nationwide leader on the legal response to the criminalization of people who self-manage abortion outside the clinical setting.

Abortion pills have made self-managed abortion physically safer than ever. Punitive state responses now pose the most significant threat to people who end their own pregnancies. Since 2015 — originally as the SIA Legal Team and now as If/When/How — they have advanced multifaceted strategies to expand access to abortion, eliminate penalties for people who self-manage their abortion, and increase protections for all people who end pregnancies outside the formal healthcare system.
